Cellular Protein Chemistry

port2
poert

Our major research goals are to characterize in molecular detail the mechanisms of chaperone-substrate interactions (Stefan RĂ¼diger), the protein folding process in the endoplasmic reticulum of mammalian cells (Ineke Braakman), and to determine formation, maintenance, and import of proteins into peroxisomes (Henk Tabak).

These goals are addressed in a number of research topics.
How these topics intertwine is illustrated by an overview of our research interests.

LABMEMBERS
Lab members have backgrounds in Biology, Medical Biology, or Chemistry, which is representative for the multidisciplinary nature of our research. Accordingly, we welcome Master students and PhD students from various faculties and disciplines.

The LAB

We occupy laboratory spaces at the seventh floor in the east wing of the Kruytgebouw at the "Uithof" University campus in Utrecht, The Netherlands. In 2000, the lab was newly renovated after our own design. The lab is qualified for radioactivity work at C-level, and for biosafety work at VMT- and C1-levels.
